The redesigned Volvo Penta website shown in a mockup

Volvo Penta

A complete redesign of Volvo Penta's global website.

Volvo Penta engineers marine and industrial power solutions, and their website needed to become a premium digital experience worthy of a Volvo brand. And it's not a simple website with some products on it: the site is packed with tools and deep, interactive content serving two very different customer segments, and it needs to generate quality leads through the dealer locator.

The design

We were given a visual direction created by another agency, which I refined to put UX and accessibility first while keeping Volvo Penta’s premium positioning. From there I designed the site in detail, from versatile page templates to interactive tools and multi-step flows. The result is a clean, Scandinavian aesthetic with understated typography and purposeful animations that still takes care of everything the site needs to support. The design evolved organically over the years as the site grew more complex.

My role

During this long collaboration I had the chance to wear many different design hats. Beyond the core UX and UI work, I managed the growing design system, created illustrations and animations, and designed how the CMS works for content editors. I worked closely with developers early to ensure the quality of the implementation, teamed up with SEO specialists, and aligned with stakeholders across departments to balance their different needs.
