Volvo Penta

A complete redesign of Volvo Penta's global website, balancing a premium look and feel with complex functionality and a scalable design system.

Background

Volvo Penta, a marine and industrial power solutions provider, needed to transform their outdated website into a premium digital experience while effectively showcasing complex product information and providing useful tools for both customer segments. The site needed to generate quality leads through the dealer locator, and maintain the sophistication expected of a Volvo brand.

Result

Taking an existing art direction concept created by another agency, I refined the visual language to prioritize UX and accessibility while maintaining Volvo Penta's premium positioning. The result is a clean, Scandinavian aesthetic with understated typography and purposeful animations. The design has evolved organically over the years as the site has grown more complex, always maintaining a balance between premium aesthetics and functionality.

My role

During this ongoing collaboration, I've had the chance to wear many different design hats. Beyond the core UX and UI design work, I've managed the growing design system, created illustrations, animations, and designed how the CMS works for content editors. I regularly collaborate with developers to ensure the quality of implementation, work alongside SEO specialists, and align with stakeholders across departments to balance diverse requirements.
